Safe and Responsible Shipping Policy
ShipVia Couriers prioritizes the safety of our network, partners, carriers, and communities.
As a Merchant of Record (MOR) only, we provide label generation and rate aggregation
services. Shippers remain the Exporter/Shipper of Record and bear full responsibility for
shipment contents, declarations, and compliance.
1. Best Practices for Safe Shipping
• Know Your Item: Verify your product is not hazardous or prohibited under carrier rules,
origin country laws, or destination country regulations. Please consult our Prohibited
and Restricted Items Policy for examples.
• Declare Truthfully:
All shipments require mandatory safety screening before ShipVia Rates are
displayed. You must declare if your shipment contains:
o Alcohol
o Dry ice
o Hazardous materials (Examples : lithium batteries, aerosols, flammables,
corrosives etc.)
o By acknowledging the mandatory checkbox, you warrant the accuracy of your
declaration and compliance with all applicable laws.
• Proper Packaging & Labeling:
o Use carrier-approved containers (leak-proof and flame-resistant where
required).
o Apply correct hazard labels and provide necessary documentation (MSDS,
etc.).
o Utilize Ground shipping only for restricted items (perfumes, batteries) and
never Air.
• Never Misrepresent Contents: Hiding, omitting, or mislabeling contents will lead to
fines, carrier bans, and significant legal liability.
2. Limited or No Rate Display
If no ShipVia Rates are visible after your declaration, our carrier partners likely cannot
accommodate your declared contents (Hazmat) or specific origin/destination combination.
In these instances, you must contact carriers directly for specialized handling.
3. Shipper's Full Responsibility
As the Shipper/Exporter of Record, you are solely responsible for:
• Accurate declarations and all required documentation.
• Compliance with both origin and destination laws.
• Adherence to carrier-specific packaging and labeling requirements.
• Payment of all fines, penalties, or damages resulting from the shipment.
Note: ShipVia Couriers performs no physical inspection or contents verification of your
packages.
4. Protection Coverage Differences
Carrier approval does not equal ShipVia Package Protection eligibility. Fragile, perishable, or
high-risk items may be excluded from protection coverage even if they are accepted for
transport by the carrier. Please refer to our ShipVia Package Protection Terms and conditions
and Claims Policy for full details on Shipping Guarantee Exclusions, limitations of coverage
and packaging requirements.
5. Consequences of non-compliance
Violations of this policy will result in:
• Immediate shipment cancellation.
• Account suspension or permanent termination.
• Carrier-level bans.
• Legal action and/or government fines.
6. Resources & Support
efore shipping, we recommend you review:
• Carrier Contract Terms: Applicable to the specific carrier label generated.
• Origin and Destination countries' rules and regulations
1. Universal Postal Union - List of Prohibited imported items per country
2. Universal Postal Union - Country-specific list of prohibited and restricted
articles
